LINE OF DEACON JOHN DUNHAM OF PLYMOUTH

FOURTH GENERATION IN AMERICA

266. JOSEPH 4 DUNHAM (Micajah 3 Joseph 2 John 1) born in Plymouth 12 March 1704/5, [1] died (unknown). Joseph married (intent given in Plymouth) 13 March 1730/31 JEAN RANDEL of Scituate.[2]

Joseph may have been living at Scituate prior to his marriage as on 16 March 1730/31 he was “warned out” of Plymouth, [3] “We the subscribers, selectmen of the town of Plymouth, declare that the above named Joseph Donham is not an inhabitant in said town according to law...” signed Isaac Lothrop, Benja. Warren, John Foster. It was common for selectmen to “warn out” people not born in a town so that if they became indigent they would not be a charge on the town.

Joseph must have resided in Scituate as a daughter Elizabeth was born to Joseph and Jane in 1732.

Child of Joseph and Jean/Jane (Randel) Dunham:

i. Elizabeth 5 Dunham b. 21 February 1732 born in Scituate, MA [3]
This is probably the Elizabeth Dunham who m. 4 April 1751 Abner Hall of Hingham, MA.[4]
