Frank Dobie (1930) and tells of the "31 loads of silver by the river." It tells that a Daniel Dunham gave a death-bed statement that mule loads of silver were buried on the bank of the Nueces near Laredo Crossing. Daniel Dunham of this article may be connected with the Robert Holmes Dunham of the Black Bean Lottery, as this Dunham branch seems to bear a traditional first name of Daniel, presently of an Unknown Dunham line. Volume XI, No 5 July 1998 Gratia looks at "Silver Daniel" Mahony, Gratia Dunham 3 Gratia's response to the article entitled "The Mystery of Daniel Dunham: Buried Silver & Buried Ancestry" points to the a book by Ray Fields Dawson, Ph.D, The Dunhams of Callaway, which was privately printed in 1981. It also points to an article in the Mayflower Quarterly, Vol. 63, p. 343. Dr. Dawson indicates that Daniel Dunham (Jr.), known as the MO Mounted Militiaman, was s/o Daniel Dunham (b. 1791) & Nancy Wilkinson. He was gs/o Archelaus Dunham. Daniel (b. 1791) & Nancy lived in WV until in 1826 and moved to Callaway Co., MO, and during this transitional move Daniel (Jr.) was born. Volume XI, No 6 August 1998 Photos & Article: Massachusetts to California -- By Motorcycle in 1920 Fuqua, Marilyn 1 & 2 Burton Fuqua & wife Louise (Dunham) Fuqua (1897-?) made a motorcycle trip from MA to CA in 3 months. The Motorcycle & Allied Trades Assn. offered bronze, silver & gold medals for certain amounts of travel. Along the way they were to get signatures of town officials. They camped in fields, pastures, farm yards and only once indoors, and were the proud winners of the gold medal. Louise (b. 1897) is probably of the Deacon John Dunham line.

Clark Dunham was b. in New Haven, CT and moved with his parents & siblings to Licking Co., OH. Clark m. 1841 to Lucretia Adams Williams. They had 8 children: Albert, Frank R, Edwin, Rhoda A, Alice B, Edward C, Susan W, & Mary Bell Dunham. Clark was editor & proprietor of the "Hawk-Eye", and postmaster of Burlington in Des Moines Co., IA. This family is of the Deacon John Dunham line. The Dunham Castle was designed to resemble a Norman chateaux. His farm was known as the Oaklawn Farm and found in Wayne Co., IL. He was of Deacon John Dunham line. Volume XI, No 8 December 1998 What Happened to Capt. John Dunham and his ship, Seabird 1 & 2 This story is from Invisible Residents, 1970, by Ivan Sanderson. In 1850 residents of Easton's Beach, RI noted a large vessel which came from Honduras approaching the channel reefs and found to be heading toward Newport. Frantically they began signaling of impending disaster. However, it turned and headed toward the shore undamaged, but no one was on board yet breakfast was ready to serve. The residents evidently consulted the ship's log to learn that John Dunham was the captain. No bodies washed ashore, and during another overnight storm, the ship disappeared from the shore. Dunham was of unknown Dunham line.
Volume XI, No 8 December 1998 More about Persis Dunham Mahony, Gratia Dunham 2 & 3 Persis Dunham (b. 1628/29 & d. aft. 1701) and her 2nd husband, Jonathan Shaw, likely a widower bef. marriage, were residents of Lakenham (now Plymouth Co.), towns of Plimpton & Carver. They signed their prenuptial agreement, which was witnessed by her brother, Joseph Dunham. Persis was mother of 6 Pratt children & 4 Shaw children. Volume XI, No 8 December 1998 Mrs. Enoch Dunham, an Undesirable for Church Membership Gwinn, JoAnn Y 4 From the early 1820s records of the Westfield, NJ, Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Enoch (Sarah) Dunham was accepted for membership in this church on 27 May 1820, then in January 1821 the church elders received some "unfavorable reports" of the Christian character of Mrs. Enoch Dunham and another member, Widow Polly Crane. A committee for the church was formed and reported back in May. In July of 1822 Mrs. Enoch Dunham appeared before the session and they prayed that she would become aware of her error. The final decision on the 2 cases was put off until the next session, but in October and November both women failed to appear, so evidently both women were removed from the membership roster. (Note: It appears that Enoch Dunham is likely of the Jonathan Dunham, alias Singletary line.)

He was b. in Warren Co., PA. He m. 1 Eva H. Stone in 1925. After her death, he m. 2 Hazel Kifer in 1976, who preceded him in death. He was a skilled musician, teacher and band director. He was survived by 4 children. Maxwell is of an Unknown Dunham line.

He built the first store in Wayne and the first house (Lazier house) where he reside for a time before returning to Oaklawn. When his wife d. in 1858, his daughter Emma ran the household.
