DJD-406.3.-David-5 Dunham
(Paris, Oneida County) New York State (in 1794), Johnson Dunham took his younger brother Silas and removed to New Jersey. In 1803, Johnson was given 'an appointment' at Flanders Church (near Budd Lake in New Jersey). He later moved to Asbury, Warren Co., NJ, where he was a Methodist Pastor. He and his brother Silas opened a store in Asbury, which also had the Post Office." We can see that Darius Dunham (b. in 1762) was not a son of either Micajah 4 or David 5 and Tabitha (Cooley) Dunham, but the fact that David 5 had a son Darius b. in 1790), and the fact that David 5 had a son (Johnson 6) who was a Methodist pastor, are strong clues which indi cate that Darius (b. in 1762) was closely related to this family. Thus, I place Darius 5 Dun ham, the man who was a Methodist pastor at the Hay Bay church in the Bay of Quinte, as a son of David 4 and Esther (possibly Richardson) Dunham. His line back to Deacon John Dunham would be Darius 5 Dunham b. 1762, David 4 and Esther (possibly Richardson) Dun ham, Micajah 3 Joseph 2 John 1 Dunham. Darius 5 Dunham was born about March 1762; died 13 September 1825 in Fredericksburg, and is buried at Switzer’s Chapel at Switzerville, Ontario, Canada. He married about 1792 Elizabeth Detlor. She died near Napanee at the home of her son Enoch Fletcher Dunham on March 1, 1848. She is buried in the Riverside Cemetery at Napanee.
