LINE OF DEACON JOHN DUNHAM OF PLYMOUTH

FORTH GENERATION IN AMERICA

251. ISRAEL 4 DUNHAM (Eleazer 3 Joseph 2 John 1) born in Plymouth October 1689, [1] died 18 August 1726 “in 36th year”. [2] He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery at Plympton Green opposite the church. Israel married 13 December 1713 JOANNA RICKARD, [3] daughter of Deacon John and Mary (--) Rickard. Joanna was born in Plymouth 22 September 1691. [4] Joanna’s father John Rickard was the son of Giles Rickard who married Hannah 2 Dunham (John 1 Dunham). Joanna (Rickard) (Dunham) married second in Plympton by Mr. Isaac Cushman10 October 1728 Elisha Whiton.[5]

There are several deeds in which Elisha Whiton and Elisha Whiton Jr. are grantors to the sons of Israel 4 Dunham. [6] There is close association between the families of Rickard, Dunham, Tilson and Pratt.

Cornelius 6 Dunham was a sea captain and a privateer during the Revolution. This is the Cornelius Dunham who purchased the sword of General Warren who died at Bunker Hill. (see article in DSFC Newsletter Vol. 9, Issue 2, 15 April 2012 The Sword of General Warren by Bruce W. Dunham).

371. iii. Ebenezer 5 Dunham, b. 5 February 1718/19
iv. Susanna 5 Dunham, b. 16 July 1721; d. Oct. 1763 in 42nd year of her age. m. 1 in Plympton 31 Dec. 1741 Daniel Crocker, son of Deacon Abel and Mary (Isham) Crocker and brother of Rebecca Crocker who married Silvanus Dunham (#369 above). Daniel Crocker, m. 2 Abigail Roberts and they moved to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where he died 24 March 1787. Daniel and Abigail (Roberts) Crocker had 11 children b. in Nova Scotia; Elijah, Lucy, Daniel, Abigail, Eleazer, Hannah, Lydia, Sarah, Deborah, Mary, Joseph.
